“I have been on many whitewater rafting trips. These people are the professionals! Safety is paramount and the guides are incredible. This trip is not for the group who just wants to be paddled down a river. It’s expert level, and you will be asked to paddle. You also have to take a “float test”, which means you have to show that you can swim the river to safety. But the payoff downstream is more than worth the cold swim. Take the full float, you won’t be disappointed. Archie and Gumby are excellent guides with incredible skills. Good times.”

Best rafting trip ever!

“Best rafting ever! Guides were beyond nice super encouraging when you were done they went around and gave you high fives and made you feel like you conquered a beast! Always giving out instructions and it was easily the best use of 150 dollars I’ve spent! 100% do all 3 canyons. Popcorn was our guide and he had 17 years of experience so it’s completely safe. Would absolutely do again!”

Highlight of a fantastic family trip to Alaska!

“We are a family of 5 with 3 teens and no whitewater rafting experience. The staff of Chugach picked us up at the cruise terminal in Seward and after rafting dropped us at the airport after rafting. The Chugach staff are phenomenal! They calmly helped us all get oriented, geared up, and to the launch point. On the river the guides are calm even if the water is not. Never has getting hit with cold water been so much fun. The third canyon is a must do – even with one of us falling out it was still awesome. Bring your GoPro and a big tip. The guides earn it – Archie, Neil and Gumby were great. I would do this again in a heartbeat.”

Awesome whitewater trip...I'm hooked!

“I can’t wait to do it again! This was the best trip ever. This outfit has the most amazing, helpful, fun, safety conscious staff you will ever meet. I was very nervous when I booked this trip but all for naught. As soon as we walked on property we met and chatted with one of the staff who told us how to dress, how cold the water was that day and answered ALL our questions. They spend a lot of time prior to the swim test telling us exactly what to do in any situation that should arise. Then comes the swim test which was exhilarating and got us comfortable with being in the water rather than being afraid to be in the water. Our guide was James and he was just awesome. His directions were very clear and concise that it made the rapids almost too easy. So easy that it was SUPER FUN, even in the 3rd canyon which we decided to do on the river after the first 2 canyons. I highly recommend it. I also highly recommend Chugach Outdoor Center if you’re looking for a super fun, memorable experience. This outfit is extremely safety conscious. They even have an extra 1 man boat out there for support which is very comforting. Top notch organization with super staff. 5 stars all the way!!!! Thanks COC!”

Best trip ever

“I have never been white water rafting and I was very skeptical about how dangerous it would be. The guide in my group was Neil. He was amazing to hang out with and very experienced when it came to rafting. He made the trip fun and safe as we went through all three canyons and some of the most intense rapids I’ve ever seen. The scenery was magnificent and the weather was perfect. No one fell out of our raft and no one got injured. The other two rafts did have one or two people fall out during the trip but quickly got back in safe as could be. Everyone was amazing and helpful with our safety being top priority. I would come back and do it again next year. It is a must on your Alana visit.”

Amazing river experience!

“We had totally planned for something else but the weather caused us to reevaluate. We were not disappointed! If we were going to get wet anyway then why not do it on a river. We were welcomed immediately and made to feel comfortable from the get go. Then Tommy and Popcorn took over and gave us an efficient and effective safety seminar. Equipment is top notch. Then we shot three canyons of rapids! Exhilarating and exciting. Always felt in good hands with our two guides (tip them!!!). Two adults and three young men and all of us enjoyed this experience. Riding class IV and V rapids in Alaska is a bucket list item. Don’t let this get past you. Highly recommend this outfit and while the other guides are solid I’m sure, Tommy and Popcorn were the best and cool bros!”

“Had such a blast with the Chugach Outdoor Center on Six Mile Creek. A very friendly knowledgeable staff that kept the thrills coming on the river and off. Great at pushing the envelope with safety as a number one priority. Amazing skills with the track record to back it. The owner Jay was very accommodating for our group with hot showers, hot cocoa, and even a hot tub to warm your bones after the frigid rapids. Bring your thermals and head to the C.O.C. if your in Alaska, It will be the Highlight of your Alaskan trip!!”

What a great way to spend an afternoon

“I did the class IV-V afternoon raft trip. It was amazing. The guides were experienced and know the river very well. The trip is well organized and very professional. Safety is very important to them, If you kill your clients, you will go out of business. Pretty simple concept. So they make sure all riders are safe. The whitewater was absolutely so much fun. The scenery is beautiful. We got to see an eagle and golden eagle. If you love geology, you will not be disappointed with the shoreline. The guides are characters in their own right and thus so enjoyable. It that make the trip even more worth it.”

“I did the Three Canyon trip in July of 2016. The scenery was spectacular, the guides were great, and the whitewater was stellar.

“Rain and mostly cloudy, but had a great trip with Matt! He was extremely knowledgable of the river and its Eco system. We were a three generation group with a seven year old and an 60 year old who recently had total knee replacement. If at any point in time you don’t feel comfortable they take the time work with you or will make accommodations to get picked up halfway down the trip. Exhilarating

“This was the second time my wife and I did class 5 rapids, the first time was below the Victoria Falls. The experience here was just as exhilarating but much safer, with an extensive prep session, safety training and a fantastic guide. We used body suits that kept us dry, even through a really invigorating swimming lesson. For the most fun, and to get the most of the whitewater experience, sit in the front of the boat and paddle hard!”
